Medical terminology is highly technical

Life sciences companies must continually ensure compliance with national legislation in all the countries they do business in. Coupled with the need to adhere to industry regulations, pressures are great on all sectors of the industry.

The medical profession and life sciences sector rely heavily on professional translation companies who understand that translating industry content is an extremely specialist area. The APT team works with Contract Research Organisations (CROs), medical device manufacturing companies and the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and IVD industries.

Medical terminology is highly technical, and precise terms are often required in research and analysis. As well as providing medically qualified translators, when required, we provide translators who are doctors or biomedical engineers with postdoctorate degrees. All work closely with our medical project management team.

Working to our ISO procedures, APT’s project management team provides a professional service to an industry that must absolutely be guaranteed versatility, accuracy and consistency.

APT’s sophisticated online life sciences workflow environment allows teams globally to work together with online glossaries, industry-standard dictionaries as well as online translation memories. Re-use of approved terminology for the medical sector is an integral part of our process.

Proofreading and editing is a priority with some medical translation work. When required, we work with qualified reviewers within the profession for the review stage, such as members of pharmaceutical associations or equivalent.

Our work includes drug registration dossiers, patient information leaflets, informed consent forms, summaries of product characteristics, patient reports, directions for use for medical devices, environmental impact reports, articles on climate change, and press releases.

A Contract Research Organisation based in the UK requested APT to provide translation services for a phase III, randomised, double blind, placebo-controlled multi-centre trial.
