Legal Translation

Law is a culture-specific subject matter, making legal translation a complex task and one which should only be undertaken by experienced specialist translators. Most legal documents, and contracts in particular, aim to clearly establish the rights and duties of the parties involved. If, for example, a certain clause was mistranslated, this could lead to misunderstandings, disputes and potential financial consequences.
 
To avoid such problems, legal specialist translators always bear in mind that the terminology used in a source document refers specifically to the legal system of the country in question. Using specialist legal knowledge, the translator is able render the precise meaning unambiguously in the target language. This ensures that, for example, rights and duties will be established in exactly in same way in the translation as they were in the source document.
